Every press release is reviewed by at least two members of our Editorial Team to determine if the content meets our criteria and those of our 3rd party syndication partners.


With ReleaseWire’s Editorial Policy, our Editorial Team reviews every press releases submitted for distribution. When reviewing a press release, our Editorial Team determines the newsworthiness of the press release content and, in some cases, may send the press release back to the submitting party for updates, changes or edits.


ReleaseWire's Terms of Service Agreement provides that ReleaseWire, at its sole discretion, may refuse any press release submitted for distribution for any reason.

Web Preview Content


ReleaseWire assesses any content within or embedded into the press release using the web preview feature or any other embedding tool. For further information, click here.

Spamming or Back-linking


ReleaseWire does not tolerate any press releases promoting back-linking, unsolicited emails, spamming or exploiting any spamming method. Violation of this policy can result in the removal of your press releases or termination of your ReleaseWire account.


Acceptable Press Release Content

  • New products and services by your company
  • New hires and promotions
  • New partnerships and joint ventures
  • Business expansion such as new locations
  • Event announcements and updates
  • Milestones or anniversaries
  • Award recognition and other accolades
  • Expert opinions on newsworthy events which are relevant to your core business


Prohibited Content


ReleaseWire will not distribute press release content that may include but is not limited to:


  • Promoting of online pharmacies; however, we may allow pharmacies that have a legitimate rating with services such as LegitScript to publish press releases
  • Promoting of online gambling
  • Containing adult content not suitable for the general public
  • Promoting of illegal activities
  • Promoting of infringement on the legal rights of others
  • Repetitive, non-unique or redundant information
  • Containing advertisements
  • Promoting marijuana, cannabis, CBD, hemp and related products

  • Promoting mood altering substances such as bath salts, Kratom, and Kava Kava

  • Promoting pseudo, synthetic, or designer drugs


Restricted Content


Additionally, many of our 3rd party sites and networks will not include press release content which will:


  • Promote weight loss pills or other diet products
  • Promote stock opinions, stock recommendations or other financial content from publicly traded companies
  • Promote e-Cigarettes or related products
  • Promote payday loans, bad credit loans or other loan products
  • Promote sexual enhancement products or services
  • Contain affiliate marketing or other product placements
  • Contain non-unique content such as a template-based press release content or previously distributed material which is rewritten for the sole purpose of reissue


Potentially Libelous Content Policy


ReleaseWire does not distribute content which is potentially libelous which can include press releases stating that a person or organization has committed a crime or illegal act or has acted in an immoral manor. ReleaseWire will not distribute press releases stating that an individual has a physical or mental illness. When issuing press releases related to legal proceedings, ReleaseWire requires that sufficient documentation be included, such as the case number, name of the Case and court of record.


Acceptable Multimedia Content


  • Company logo
  • Company products (videos, images, documents, audio files)
  • Company employees (videos, images, documents, audio files)
  • Company equipment (videos, images, documents, audio files)


Prohibited Multimedia Content


Multimedia (images, audio and videos) content may not include but is not limited to the following:

  • Sex or Nudity
  • Illegal drugs
  • Weapons
  • Counterfeit goods
  • Fake document

Due to policy requirements set by our credit card processor, we updated our "Prohibited Content" policy to include the promotion of mood altering substances such as bath salts, Kratom, and Kava Kava as well as the promotion of pseudo, synthetic, or designer drugs.
